Celebrating Kansas Voices; Dwight D. Eisenhower Library and Museum
Hi guys, this week I completed a project called 'Celebrating Kansas Voices' and I was allowed to pick a particular place in Kansas and be your personal tour guide. For this project, I chose to research the Dwight D. Eisenhower Library, Museum and Boyhood Home in Abilene Kansas. I chose to do my project over this place because I am personally from Abilene and grew up going to this museum all throughout grade school and high school. This place is a very cool place if you are interested in learning more about the presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower. Now I am going to tell you about how I did this project. First of all, I used the app called 'Book Creator' to put my project all together. 'Book Creator' is an awesome app to use when you are wanting to tell a story with a powerpoint, it has voice over ready to go with every single page of your project. This makes it so easy for people like me who do not have voiceover apps or want to download a bunch of different apps for the same project. While doing this project, I personally went to the Eisenhower Center in Abilene and took several pictures of the grounds and what I found while walking around. Unfortunately, there was construction going on while I was there on the Museum and Library portion of the grounds so it was hard to get some good pictures of the two historical buildings. This project was so easy to complete on my iPad as I was able to do every task on it. In my project I talk about how Dwight came to Abilene, what he did before and after presidency, and of course, what you can find at the museum dedicated in honor of him. While I did this project, I thought about my favorite part of the Eisenhower center and I have to say, it has always been Dwight's Boyhood home. I think it is just so cool that the center has this and gives visitors access to it. I always loved going into the house when I was younger and on field trips and picturing Dwight and his five brothers playing in the house with Dwight's parents David and Ida. Overall, I believe that the Dwight D. Eisenhower Library, Museum and Boyhood Home is an amazing place to go visit and check out if you are ever in Abilene because I can promise that you won't be disappointed. Thanks for reading guys, and I hope you liked my educational video.
