Week 4 Review: Tech EDGE, Mobile Learning In The Classroom - Episode 12, Presentation Apps
Hey guys, welcome to my week 4 review on my website. This week I chose to do my reviews over a website called Tech EDGE. This website provides over 200 hundred videos that overview the tech world. This particular episode was found on YouTube, but the original website for this group can be found at UNL Tech EDGE. While watching this particular episode, I was informed about different types of presentation apps to use in the classroom, I chose to go even deeper and download 2 of them on the App Store and review the individual app itself. The two Apps I learned about are Prezi and Haiku Deck.
First, I am going to talk about my experience with Prezi, this App is amazing. It makes it easy to learn how to make your own individual presentation. The best thing about this app is that it is free. That makes it so much easier to go and get started on the best presentation of your life. When starting my first Prezi, it had step-by-step directions as to how to get started and what to do. This is awesome for first time learners of the app like myself . The app helps you make a practice presentation to help you learn the basics. As a future educator, this app would be so helpful when making a little presentation for your classroom or even to describe the next lesson or activity that your students will do. You can easily place pictures or videos on your slides, the different fonts and templates make it fun for any age. I personally believe that any student over the age of 15 would be able to access and work this app very easily, that makes classroom presentations and projects so much easier. The pros of this app are never ending, it is easily accessible, fun, energetic, and free. The only con I would have to say is that the App is easily workable on a laptop more than an IPad. The IPad version is still very easy to locate and work with but I just found it being easier on my MacBook. My overall point of view on this App is that it is wonderful, it is fun and had the ability to bring so much fun and life into a presentation. I will most definitely be using this in my future educator days.
Secondly, I am going to talk about my experience with Haiku Deck. If I must say, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this app. I like Haiku Deck more than Prezi due to the environment and options. As always, I must start off with saying this app is FREE. That is always the best news when reviewing a new app. I have to say all pro's for this app because it is so easy to use and has so many options. The best thing is that you can work on more than one presentation at once. As educators, we all know we are busy with many different projects and this makes it so much easier to be flexible. I like how you can make bar graphs with facts, it just looks so professional. As there are not as many themes as I would like, their is still so MANY options. Kind of going along with my review of Prezi, this app would be awesome for classroom use. If you are in a secondary classroom, this would be an amazing way to get to know your students. Have each student make one page of information about them and a picture of themselves, and you as the teacher could make a presentation of all of your students and show it in class as an icebreaker at the beginning of the school year. I think an individual who is at the age to be in high school could easily access this app and work it correctly and professionally. All individuals have to is put an email in and make a quick password to have access to this wonderful app. This is definitely an app that I will be keeping for my future educator days.
Alright guys, that is all I have for this weeks review but be sure to go check out UNL Tech EDGE's website and the two apps Prezi and Haiku Deck. I promise you that it will not be a waste of your time. As always, thank you so much for checking out my website and be sure to come back for more awesome reviews.
